We convert a continuous time signal to discrete time signal, because it is easier to process and manipulate discrete time signal. Discrete signals are useful only for the in between processing stages. But once we are done processing a signal, at some point we would want to get back a continuous time (analog) output.

For example, when we edit a recorded audio,the whole editing process happens in the digital domain. But after editing, we need to use a speaker to get our output.

So the reproducibility of the output continuous time signal depends on the efficiency of our sampling process.
